Joshua Andrew Schoemann is the County Administrator for Washington County. He was born in Hartford, WI on August 11, 1981. Born the son of a Lutheran minister he grew up in multiple communities is eastern Wisconsin, but considers Fond du Lac his hometown. He attended high school at Manitowoc Lutheran H.S. in Manitowoc, WI, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from UW-Whitewater and a Master of Public Administration from Northern Illinois University.
In October of 2000 Josh joined the WI Army National Guard. In February of 2003 Josh was called to active duty and was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq where he served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He completed active service in the National Guard in October of 2006 and received an honorable discharge in October of 2008. He is currently a member of the VFW Post 10452 and the American Legion Post 522.
On June 16, 2001 Josh married Jodi ‘Westphal’ at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, WI. Upon returning from deployment in June of 2004, they had their first son, Cael Randle. Four years later in January of 2008 they had their second son, Drake Oliver.
Prior to his position as the Washington County Administrator, Josh was the Administrator for the Village of Richfield from February of 2010 – December of 2013. Josh also served as Assistant to the Public Works Director in the Village of South Elgin, IL from 2004-2006. After realizing how little he truly cared for the Chicago suburbs, he moved to Princeton, WI where he served from 2006 – 2010 as the City Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer/Director of Public Works along with a number of other positions including a short stint as an ambulance driver. While in Princeton Josh also served as the Executive Director of the Green Lake Association and as Head Coach of the Princeton High School Varsity Wrestling Team.
Currently as County Administrator, time has become a precious commodity, but Josh still finds time to be involved in service. As a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford, Josh serves as the chairman of the Board of Properties and Maintenance as well as a member of the Coordinating Council. Josh is also an active member of the Menomonee Falls Rotary and is currently their President.
In his free time he enjoys reading a good book; one or two fishing trips a year; turkey, waterfowl and deer hunting; attending Milwaukee Brewer’s games as frequently as possible; and spending quite Sundays with Jodi, Cael and Drake.
